Jeb Bush and Donald Trump have nearly 150 days to fire insults at each other before the Iowa caucuses, but they may be running out of ammo already. Bush has stepped up direct attacks on Trump and in a Breitbart interview, Trump attacked Bush for the apparently grievous offense of speaking Spanish on the campaign trail. "I like Jeb," Trump said. "He’s a nice man. But he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States." Trump also slammed Bush for telling a Miami audience that his rival "no es conservador"—not a conservative. Trump compared himself to Ronald Reagan, saying Reagan wasn't a conservative when he took office but became a great one.

"By the time I’m finished with the presidency, after eight years of the presidency, people will say I’m a great conservative—far greater than Jeb would ever have the ability to be," said Trump, implying that he believes he will be elected president then re-elected in 2020. If he is elected, it's not clear whether it will be as a Republican: He has refused to rule out launching a third-party bid if he decides he doesn't like how he's being treated by the GOP, and sources tell Politico that the Republican National Committee has started reaching out to candidates to see if they will sign a pledge promising to support the party's nominee and not run as an independent. (The US has more Spanish-speakers than all but one of the world's countries.)
