Police: Wife Steals Cop Car With Husband Cuffed Inside
Joshua and Amber Watford   (Alaska State Troopers)

Police arrested a 28-year-old Alaska woman—and serious wife-of-the-year candidate—yesterday for allegedly stealing a state trooper's patrol car while her husband was handcuffed in the back seat. Joshua Watford was arrested Wednesday for reportedly failing to show up to court-ordered DUI classes, the AP reports. Police say the arresting officer got distracted while chatting with a passing driver, and Amber Watford took the opportunity to hop into the patrol car and drive off. Officers found the undamaged patrol car an hour later with Joshua's handcuffs still inside.

Despite assists from a police dog and a helicopter, officers were unable to find the Watfords Wednesday. Yesterday, acting on a tip, officers discovered the couple in a house in Wasilla and arrested them on suspicion of vehicle theft, criminal mischief, and more. As of today, Amber had bailed out of jail, while Joshua remained behind bars. Ouch. Maybe forget that whole wife-of-the-year thing. (More weird crimes stories.)
