(Newser) – Australia has a new prime minister, but only due to backstabbing and "treachery," according to the man who's been thrown from the top job. In a final statement that boasted "a fair amount of anger," per the Telegraph, outgoing PM Tony Abbott attacked "a febrile media culture ... that rewards treachery" and suggested MPs in his own party had leaked information. "Poll-driven panic has produced a revolving primeministerial door," he added, though he said he would not undermine new leader Malcolm Turnbull. Turnbull, meanwhile, was quite cheerful during his first appearance as prime minister, noting he is "filled with optimism" for the future.
