The continuing squabbling between the Democratic presidential candidates is taking a toll within the party and dividing groups considered crucial to a victory in November, polls show—even as more Republicans are lining up behind John McCain, the Wall Street Journal reports. "It is alarming and sickening," one Democratic observer said of emerging fault lines.
Some 75% of Republicans say they're happy with McCain; that's about 5 points better than either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama fares among Democrats. One black talk-show host said he was "flooded" with calls from listeners saying they'll never vote for Clinton, and one Clinton-supporting teacher told the Journal, "If Obama gets it, I'm voting Republican."
