Howard, Dirk Cruise Past Bobcats

Posted Mar 13, 08 4:59 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Josh Howard returned to form, sparking the Mavericks with a 20-point first half. He ended with 24 and Dirk Nowitzki added 26 in Dallas' 118-93 rout of Charlotte, reports the Dallas Morning News. Howard's defense also stymied Bobcats wing Jason Richardson, who shot 4 of 16. Gerald Wallace had 14 points after an eight-game absence. Also in the NBA:

  • The Warriors triumphed in their last game against the Eastern Conference, gunning down the Raptors 117-106; the eighth seed in the West, they are 4.5 games behind the No. 1 Lakers.
  • The Nuggets handled the lowly Grizzlies, 108-86, behind Kenyon Martin's 23-point outburst and despite subpar games from leading scorers Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson.
