A man doing repair work at Yale University has died after plummeting 40 feet into a smokestack, the Hartford Courant reports. The man in his 50s, whose name hasn't been released, fell into the chimney from a ladder yesterday at the Yale Central Power Plant in New Haven, Conn., reports the New Haven Register. He was stuck there for about an hour while firefighters struggled to reach him and eventually broke into the side of the non-operational chimney. A longtime employee at International Chimney, he was in cardiac arrest and died later at a hospital. A fire official says he was wearing his harness at the time of the fall. University police and federal officials are investigating. (More chimney stories.)
