Boys Survive Being Hurled From Overpass

Posted Mar 13, 08 10:07 AM CDT in US Crime & Courts

(Newser) – Police don't know why a young mother threw her young sons from a Dallas highway overpass into rush-hour traffic yesterday before leaping off herself—but they're completely stunned that all three survived, AP reports. "It was really miraculous that we didn't have some fatalities," said the local police chief. The mom and her 8-year-old son were struck by cars; her 6-year-old boy was not.

All three were able to talk to police and are now recovering in a hospital. "The why remains a mystery to us," an officer said. "If you try to apply logic to these incidents, they totally defy any logical explanation." The mother may now face attempted capital murder charges. The boys were placed in foster care for 5 months in 2005 following the mother's arrest in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend.
