Chipotle has closed more than 40 restaurants in Washington and Oregon after at least 22 people became sick from E. coli after eating there, the AP reports. The Oregon Health Authority announced Saturday that three people got sick in the Portland area and at least 19 people were sickened in Washington since Oct. 14. According to the Oregonian, officials believe even more people have been affected by the Shiga toxin strain of E. coli since eating at Chipotle but have failed to report it. Six restaurants in the two states are thought to be involved in the outbreak, but Chipotle announced Saturday it has closed 43 restaurants in the area "out of an abundance of caution," the AP reports. The Oregonian states anyone experiencing vomiting or bloody diarrhea after eating at Chipotle should see a doctor. (More Chipotle stories.)
