Wings Come From Behind to Soar Over Stars

(Newser) – Detroit's offense shone in the third period, scoring three goals to beat the Stars, 5-3. Pavel Datsyuk had a big night with two goals and an assist, helping the Wings reach 100 points for the eighth straight year, tying a league record set by Montreal in 1982. Chris Osgood got the win in goal for the Wings, reports the AP.  Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Ottawa shut out the Canadiens tonight, 3-0, to remain just one point behind conference-leader New Jersey. Jason Spezza had two goals for the Sens.
  • Ilya Kovalchuk made all the difference for Atlanta, as the Thrashers defeated the Flames tonight, 6-4.  Kovalchuk netted himself a hat trick in the last minute of the game, giving him 48 goals on the season.
