'Bikini Anchor' May Sue NYC Over Cop Tussle

(Newser) – A former Philadelphia news anchor who allegedly punched a New York cop may be preparing to sue the city, the police department, and several individual officers—including the one she was originally charged with hitting. Alycia Lane's lawyer tells the Daily News the move allows her “to keep her options,” but she could seek $5 million over “economic injuries," a notice of claim filed this week states.

Lane lost her job after a run-in with plainclothes cops in December. She was hit with a second-degree assault charge for allegedly punching a policewoman, whom she reportedly called a "dyke." The charges were reduced because the officer’s injuries weren’t serious enough to constitute a felony, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
