(Newser) – No. 2 Memphis won the Conference USA title for the third straight year today, but the Tigers are hoping their 77-51 win over Tulsa is worth a little more, reports the Associated Press. The Tigers (33-4) are hoping their 42nd straight conference win earns them a No. 1 in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are the 28th team with 30 regular-season wins.

Antonio Anderson led the Tigers to their seventh straight win with 19 points, including hitting 4 of 5 3-pointers. Memphis has beaten Tulsa (20-13) seven times in a row and the Golden Hurricanes only win in their past 16 games with the Tigers came in the semifinals of the 2001 NIT. Memphis jumped out to a 21-6 lead and coach John Calipari subbed out all five starters.
