Bruins Get Critical Home Win Over Flyers

Posted Mar 15, 08 6:02 CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Philadelphia missed a chance to grab the seventh slot in the Eastern Conference today, allowing Andrew Ferrence's first goal of the season with 27 seconds remaining in regulation and then another in overtime to lose 3-2 at Boston. Aaron Ward had the winner. The Bruins had lost six of seven, but were backstopped by Tim Thomas' 24 saves, reports AP. Elsewhere:

  • Nashville ended a three-game losing streak by shutting down the Wings' offense in a 3-1 road win, which included holding Detroit scoreless on six power plays
  • Martin Brodeur got his 40th win this season and Jay Pandolfo was one of four different scorers in New Jersey's 4-2 victory at Colorado. Avs center Joe Sakic recorded his 999th career assist.
