Scott Cutley scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Cal State Fullerton into the NCAA Tournament with an 81-66 win over UC Irvine in the Big West tournament final yesterday, reports the Orange County Register. Josh Akognon added 23 points as the Titans reached the NCAAs for the first time since 1978, only the second time in school history. In other NCAA action:

  • Tywain McKee scored on a layup with 2 seconds left as Coppin State upset top-seeded Morgan State in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference final, 62-60.
  • Carl Lucas hits two free throws with less than a second left to give Mississippi Valley State a 59-58 win over Jackson State in the Southwestern Athletic Conference final.
