Penguins Without Crosby Crush Flyers

Posted Mar 16, 08 11:15 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – It was four points apiece for Evgeni Malkin and Petr Sykora as the Penguins dominated the Flyers today, 7-1. The win was Pittsburgh’s second-consecutive game with seven goals, and comes two days after the team learned they’d be without Sidney Crosby for another three games, reports the Associated Press. The star center had only recently returned after being sidelined for two months with a high-ankle sprain. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • The Flames were ablaze in the second period to beat the Blackhawks, 4-2. The win puts Calgary in a three-way tie atop the Northwest Division, and in sixth-place in their conference.
  • Joe Corvo and Patrick Eaves showed they had something to prove against their former team, as the one-time Sens combined for four goals, and their Hurricanes blew out Ottawa, 5-1.
