Bjorn Thorpe was excited to watch his 3-year-old nephew play with the toy F-16 fighter jet he bought him on Amazon for Christmas. It was advertised as making realistic jet noises, but "we put the batteries in and didn't get what we expected," Thorpe tells KING 5. What issued from the toy was actually the prayer performed by Muslims during the holy pilgrimage to Mecca. "It sounds like an Arabic chanting, which is pretty unusual," Thorpe says. "I do respect other religions, but it's not the right situation to have it on a children's toy," he adds. "We're kind of confused on how this would happen."

While some buyers say their toy does indeed make jet sounds, several others have encountered the same issue as Thorpe. "Not as advertised. Does not play jet noises. Plays an Arabic chant that is extremely bizarre for a child's toy," reads one Amazon review. One user describes the prayer as "very disturbing," per the Independent, while another jokes that it's come in handy for converting his 3-year-old son, notes the Seattle Times. Toy company WolVol hasn't offered much of an explanation, other than to say that its manufacturer must have sent a bad batch. The toy is now listed as unavailable. (More Amazon stories.)
