New Real Name for Hannah Montana

Posted Mar 19, 08 6:19 AM CDT in Gossip

(Newser) – Two names is enough for Miley Ray Cyrus, also known as Hannah Montana, E! Online reports. The teen superstar has filed to have her name legally changed from Destiny Hope Cyrus to Miley Ray Cyrus—the name her legions of fans know her by and the name her family has called her since she was a baby.

Cyrus got the Miley name after dad Billy Ray Cyrus nicknamed his happy baby girl "Smiley Miley." Legal papers filed by her parents on behalf of the 15-year-old Disney Channel star say she wants to "make her commonly used name the same as her legal name." Miley, née Destiny, aka Hannah, starts filming The Hannah Montana Movie with her father this spring.
