Celtics Defense Stops Rockets' Streak at 22

Posted Mar 19, 08 5:34 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Rockets had followed 22 straight games with victorious press conferences, and nothing short of the NBA's best team could change that tune. With a decisive 94-74 win, the Boston Celtics ended Houston's win streak and held them to their lowest score this season. "I've never seen defense like that," Tracy McGrady told the Houston Chronicle. Elsewhere in the league:

  • Sacramento's Kevin Martin and Ron Artest combined for 60 points to fuel a 122-105 Kings victory and keep Golden State from taking a much-needed jump in the standings.
  • Phoenix increased its win streak to five games for the first time in 2008 with a 111-98 win over Portland, partly thanks to 16 points and 15 rebounds from an improving Shaq.
