(Newser) – CNN's Anderson Cooper returned to the air today after a two-day absence during which he had a cancerous mole removed from his face, E! News reports. Anderson wrote on his blog that he's fine and that the surgery went well, and a spokesman said doctors don't think the cancer has spread. "Don't want you to think I got into a fistfight with Charlie Rose," Cooper wrote to his fans.

"A small spot of skin cancer was removed from under my left eye," wrote the 40-year-old anchor. "I hadn't planned on mentioning this, but I still have stitches and you'll no doubt notice them tonight." As for Rose, he's sporting a nice shiner on his PBS show after tripping on the sidewalk while trying to catch his laptop.
