Clinton, McCain Passport Files Also Breached

Posted Mar 21, 08 11:51 AM CDT in Politics

(Newser) – The State Department said today that Hillary Clinton’s and John McCain’s passport files also have been breached—just hours after Condoleezza Rice apologized to Barack Obama for the same thing, CNN reports. Rice promised a full investigation. “If it's true, it's reprehensible, and the Bush administration has a responsibility to get to the bottom of it,” said a Clinton spokesman.

Clinton’s campaign vowed to “closely monitor” the investigation, while House Oversight chairman Harry Waxman sent Rice a letter urging her to reveal the names of the contractors involved. Earlier, Rice told reporters she had personally called Obama to apologize. “I told him I was sorry, and that I myself would be very disturbed,” she said. “I will stay on top of this.” She is making similar overtures to Clinton and McCain, the Chicago Tribune notes.
