Diller, von Furstenberg Clone Their Dog (Twice)

Barry Diller loves his dog, Shannon, so much that he and wife Diane von Furstenberg cloned her—twice. The IAC chairman and the fashion designer likely paid as much as $100,000 for the cloning, Page Six reports, and a rep for Diller confirms they now have two new puppy clones of Shannon, a Jack Russell terrier who sleeps in a custom-made "neoclassical doghouse" and has been spotted at Oscars parties.

As NPR reported last year, it's a company named Sooam Biotech in South Korea that clones dogs, and the process requires "a lot of other dogs to serve as egg donors and surrogates," because the process often doesn't work and must be performed multiple times. When it finally works, does it really work? NPR spoke to one couple that cloned their dog, and they say the two resulting clones are "so much like" the original, "it's unreal."
