Struggling to reach the playoffs, the Maple Leafs were determined to wrest two points from the Senators, and battled accordingly. The 5-4 Toronto victory was decided early in the third period with two quick goals, and secured when the Leafs killed a power play with 87 seconds remaining, reports the Globe and Mail. Elsewhere in the league of pucks and blades:
- Tomas Vokoun stopped 35 shots to secure a 4-2 win, and continued post-season possibilities for Florida, while dropping Tampa Bay into a tie with the Kings for last place in the league.
- All Anaheim needed was two goals from Teemu Selanne to secure a 2-1 win over the floundering Coyotes, thanks to 30 saves from backup goalie Jonas Hiller.
