Fred Stumps for Acting Roles

Posted Mar 25, 08 8:44 AM CDT in Arts & Living Politics

(Newser) – He won't be president next year, but maybe he'll play one on TV. Fred Thompson, the former US senator whose folksy run for the White House failed to galvanize support, is returning to acting. He has signed with Hollywood's William Morris Agency to seek new movie and television roles, reports E! Online.

Alabama-born Thompson forged a successful acting career playing Washington types, even while serving in the Senate. He has played a president, a White House chief of staff, a CIA director, and various military types. He also had a recurring role as a conservative district attorney on Law & Order before joining the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
