Billups, Pistons Set Down Suns in Overtime

Posted Mar 25, 08 2:58 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Detroit scored the last six points in overtime, including a three-point play by Chauncey Billups, as the Pistons defeated Phoenix, 110-105, snapping the Suns' seven-game winning streak. Billups had nine of his 32 points in the extra session and helped pick up the slack for the ailing Richard Hamilton, who missed the game with a hip injury, reports the Arizona Republic.

The game was close throughout, with 16 ties in the first half alone. Amare Stoudemire scored 33 points for Phoenix, which shot 50% from the field but was outrebounded for only the third time in 17 games. Shaquille O'Neal, part of the reason for that rebounding prowess had 12 points, 10 boards, while Grant Hill added 23 for the Suns.
