The Blues Brothers will live on in an animated series co-created and executive produced by Dan Aykroyd, Judy Belushi (widow of the other original Blues Brother, John Belushi), and original Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts. The show, which will follow Jake and Elwood Blues and their band in Chicago and on the road, will start getting shopped to TV platforms this month, Deadline reports. Aykroyd and Belushi have been planning an animated reboot for a decade, and are also considering other projects to build the Blues Brothers franchise.

"The show will be the Blues Brothers living in America and utilizing all new technology to make and promote their own records, seek out and record new artists, and avoid law enforcement—and all while fighting for truth, justice, and a better breakfast sandwich,” Aykroyd says. The score and soundtrack will, of course, include Blues Brothers classics and new performances recorded for the series. (More The Blues Brothers stories.)
