Hillary Clinton's eventual running mate or not, as Elizabeth Warren headed out on the campaign trail Monday, she embraced a role she's already been practicing on her own: the "chief public antagonist" against Donald Trump, as CNN describes it (or the "Trump slayer-in-chief," per the New York Times). Appearing at their first joint campaign event in Cincinnati, Warren and Clinton wore different hues of blue, but they were perfectly in sync as they railed against the presumptive GOP nominee—a "trap" Gawker says they set by blowing a "dog whistle pitched at a level to be heard precisely by Donald Trump himself." Clinton first named all of the Trump businesses that likely won't get the "Made in America" stamp. "Trump suits were made in Mexico, Trump furniture is made in Turkey, instead of Cleveland," Clinton noted. "Trump barware is made in Slovenia, instead of Toledo."

But it was Warren who really went to town on Trump, calling him a "small, insecure money grubber" who will "crush you into the dirt to get whatever he wants." She also lauded Clinton as knowing how "to defeat a thin-skinned bully who is driven by greed and hate," then lobbed a descriptor Trump often throws her way. "Now Donald Trump says he'll make America great again … it's stamped on the front of his goofy hats," Warren said. "You want to see goofy? Look at him in that hat." Clinton responded to Warren's speech by calling her "formidable" and noting, "I have to say, I do just love how she gets under Donald Trump's skin." And it appeared the two women did just that even before they spoke. "Crooked Hillary is wheeling out one of the least productive senators in the US Senate, goofy Elizabeth Warren, who lied on heritage," Trump tweeted early Monday, with his campaign calling her "Sellout Warren" in a later statement that said she's "become a turncoat for the causes she supposedly supports," per Politico.
