(Newser) – Actress Lindsay Lohan will play a member of the violent Manson family in the upcoming movie Manson Girls, reports E! Online. LiLo will portray Nancy Pitman, who grew up well-to-do in Malibu and was just 16 when she met Manson through a  friend and quickly became one of his followers.

Pitman was with Manson the night he sent members of his commune into the former home of an ex-business associate, where they ended up killing pregnant Hollywood actress Sharon Tate and four others. She served 18 months in prison for being an accessory to murder after the fact. This weekend Lohan can be seen starring opposite Jared Leto in Chapter 27, about John Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman.
