It looked as though New Jersey was going to skate away with a rare victory against the Rangers tonight, but Christian Backman changed all that with a game-tying goal in the 3rd period. New York went on to win, 3-2, securing their seventh straight win over the Devils this season. Nigel Dawes produced the game winner for the Rangers.

Chris Drury assisted on all three goals for New York, while Patrik Elias and Zach Parise scored for the Devils. New Jersey has lost five straight - their longest losing streak since 2000 - and is now tied with the Rangers for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Each team has five regular-season games remaining, including one more head-to-head battle. (More NHL stories.)
