Naughty Playboy Goes Nice

Posted Mar 28, 08 5:15 PM CDT in World Arts & Living

(Newser) – A Philippines edition of dependably naughty Playboy magazine launches Thursday, but fans looking for flesh can forget it, Reuters reports. Instead of aiming at lads, the mag targets mature dads, and religious considerations mean full-frontal nudity is a no-no. It’ll burst instead with well-written articles on “everything under the sun of interest to men,” the editor says.

He’s hoping Playboy’s launch will go down better in the mostly Roman Catholic country than it did in Muslim Indonesia, where it was met with violent protests, but he cites another reason for modesty—“I don't want to be ashamed to show it to my mother.” The mag will feature centerfolds and tasteful photos of Filipino women, but they’ll show a lot less—“maybe one nipple.”

No nudity here. The editor of Playboy's Philippines edition won't risk making enemies in the church or the business community by displaying full-frontal nudity.   (Wayfaring Travel Guide, photo by 'Nerdeff')
