Devils Dominate Shootout to Down Flyers

Posted Mar 28, 08 11:27 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Devils stopped the bleeding last night, ending a five-game winless skid with a 5-4 shootout victory over Philadelphia. Despite the Flyers' Mike Knubel leveling the game with less than a minute to play in regulation, they had no answer for New Jersey's three shootout goals, ending Philly's four game winning streak, the AP reports. In other NHL action:

  • Dan Ellis is quickly becoming the bane of the Blue Jackets. After blanking Columbus on Tuesday, he did it again last night, stopping a career best 43 shots en route to a 2-0 Predators victory
  • Atlanta's Johan Hedberg had a somewhat less impressive night in the net, giving up all the goals in Carolina's 7-1 dismantling of the Thrashers.
