(Newser) – A letter of thanks has been left at the New York state grave of suffragette Susan B. Anthony following Hillary Clinton's historic nomination, New York Upstate reports. The sign was left by Lovely Warren, the current—and first female—mayor of Rochester, according to WHEC. Anthony, who was from Rochester, led the fight to get women the vote. The letter, which visitors to the grave are invited to sign, reads: "Dear Susan B: We thought you might like to know that for the first time in history, a woman is running for President representing a major party. 144 years ago your illegal vote got you arrested. It took another 48 years for women to finally gain the right to vote. Thank you for paving the way.”
