"Here's a story / Of a seventy-something lady ..." is how the theme song would start to accompany the latest crime report out of Los Angeles. Police sources tell NBC News that the iconic Studio City home used for the sitcom's exterior shots was burglarized Wednesday night—and that the elderly woman who currently lives there apparently scared the prowlers off. The suspects first tried to gain entrance to the home through the windows before shattering a sliding glass door.

Once inside, the prowlers tore apart the den (we can just pretend Mike Brady used to work at his drafting table there) before moving upstairs, where they were frightened off when the resident septuagenarian heard the commotion and turned the lights on. Police tell People they responded to a call from the homeowner, who wasn't hurt, around 10:30pm; they're not yet sure what, if anything, was taken. (Eve Plumb, who played woeful middle sister Jan on The Brady Bunch, recently cleaned up to the tune of $3.9 million on a home she'd bought at age 11.)
