For the fourth time, Nigeria's military says Abubakar Shekau, the leader of militant group Boko Haram, has been killed. On all three prior occasions, Shekau (or at least, someone claiming to be him) has afterward shown up again in new videos. The Wall Street Journal notes that the most recent claims of his demise cannot be independently verified. The Nigerian military said Tuesday that Shekau and other top Boko Haram commanders were killed in an "unprecedented and spectacular air raid" Friday. Boko Haram did not immediately respond to the military's claims. (More Boko Haram stories.)
