Of all the post-Brangelina split stories to make headlines, this is a particularly incendiary one: TMZ reported early Thursday that Angelina Jolie separated from Brad Pitt the day after an allegedly drunken and abusive tirade after a plane flight the family took. Sources tell People that an allegedly inebriated Pitt yelled at and got physical with one of the children in the presence of some of the others (it's unclear if the entire family was on the flight). TMZ says he was seen yelling on the tarmac after the plane landed around 8pm and allegedly tried to make off in a fuel truck.

The LAPD and LA County Dept. of Children and Family Services are, in TMZ's telling, investigating following a call placed to DCFS. But the LAPD tells the Hollywood Reporter that's not the case. "We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing," says Sgt. Barry Montgomery. "Nor do we have any allegations against Mr. Pitt." Both People and TMZ have the same quote from "a source close to Pitt": "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light." (Here's what Marion Cotillard has to say about rumors Pitt cheated with her.)
