Oxford has pushed the California Institute of Technology—which held the top spot for the past five years—to second place in the 2016 World University Rankings, based on research impact, reputation, and global scholarship. This marks the first time in the list's 13-year history that a school outside the US has come out on top, reports the Wall Street Journal.
