Ebert Ready to Review Again

(Newser) – Roger Ebert—beset by a series of serious health ailments in recent years—will soon resume reviewing films, he wrote in a letter to Chicago Sun-Times readers. The critic was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002; since then he’s undergone several surgeries, including a tracheotomy that cost him his voice, Editor and Publisher reports. But he’ll put pen to paper once again, perhaps as early as this month.

“I am at last returning to the movie beat,” Ebert wrote. He said that he may be able to regain his voice with yet another surgery but that he will put that off for the time being. "I still have all my other abilities, including the love of viewing movies and writing about them,” he wrote. Ebert also plans to host his annual film festival, set for April 23rd.
