Oprah Dedicates Program to Her Late Dog

Posted Apr 2, 08 3:00 AM CDT in Arts & Living

(Newser) – Oprah Winfrey's show on Friday will be in honor of her late cocker spaniel, Sophie, AP reports. The show features a probe into "horrific" abuses at puppy breeding mills, according to the correspondent who investigated the piece. Sophie gave me 13 years of unconditional love," said Winfrey. "She was a true love in my life."

Winfrey's dog died last month after suffering kidney failure, and the talk show queen has vowed her next pet will not come from a breeding operation. "I would never, ever adopt another pet now without going to a shelter to do it. I am a changed woman after seeing this show," said Winfrey.
