UN News Arm Scrubs Tweet Asking People to Stop Trump
An investigation is afoot.   (Twitter)

First the US Army sent out an embarrassing anti-Trump tweet in error. Now the United Nations' official news agency has scrubbed a similar online offensive against the GOP nominee, also claiming it was a mistake, Politico reports. The now-vanished tweet, which posted at 9:14pm EDT Thursday and called for "8 million Americans abroad" to "stop Trump," also included a link to the Avaaz.org activist website, which urges people overseas to register to vote and for others to share the website with expats and others. Meanwhile, the center's Twitter account tweeted later Thursday night: "An errant tweet has been deleted from this account. The cause is being investigated." The chief of the news services division tells Politico the tweet "did not originate from the UN News Centre." (More Donald Trump stories.)
