Martinez Hurt as Mets Lose to Marlins

(Newser) – Robert Andino hit his first career home run with two out in the bottom of the tenth inning to give the Florida Marlins a 5-4 victory over the New York Mets. The Florida bullpen was outstanding, allowing just three hits and one run over seven innings after Florida starter Rick VandenHurk proved ineffective over the first three innings, reports the Associated Press.

Much more serious than losing the game for New York was the loss of starter Pedro Martinez to an apparent hamstring injury. Martinez, who has missed significant time over the past two seasons due to injuries, left the game in the fourth inning. "He said he felt kind of a pop," said Mets skipper Willie Randolph.
