Marina Garcia was all ready to play for her Texas high school's volleyball team Friday night, but she had one task to take care of before the first spike: rescuing the national anthem. Fox 29 reports that the senior stepped up to the mic when something went awry with the sound system and it wouldn't play a recording of the song. Marina's rendition went viral after a coach posted it online. "No music, no prep time, no problem!" raves the Northside Independent School District's Facebook post showing the video of Garcia belting it out.

Garcia has a definite opinion on the furor over the Colin Kaepernick-inspired national anthem protests that have been taking place in sports arenas and on fields across the country. "I have family members that were in the military that fought for freedom and just to see other people that don't understand that is kind of offending to me, but I understand it's their opinion," she tells KSAT. Future plans for Marina, who notes to KENS she's been "wanting to become famous": trying out for The Voice and keeping up with volleyball. (Speaking of Kaepernick: He's starting in his first 49ers game in almost a year this weekend.)
