Celtics' Turnaround Reaches Record Proportions

Posted Apr 2, 08 11:42 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Celtics' 60th win of the season was a 92-77 joyride against the Pacers, marking a 36-win improvement over the previous year—tying the 1996-97 Spurs for the best turnaround in league history. It was Boston's 41st win by at least 10 points, and it featured a typical 20-point, 11-rebound performance by Kevin Garnett.

It got out of hand early, with the Celtics entering halftime with a 49-30 lead, which they quickly extended to 56-30 shortly into the third. Danny Granger led the Pacers with 14 points; Jeff Foster had seven offensive boards, but little else went right for cold-shooting, turnover-prone Indiana. Boston needs two more wins to clinch home-court advantage.
