NFL Owners Tweak Rules at League Meeting

Posted Apr 2, 08 11:46 PM CDT in Sports    Most Covered

(Newser) – The NFL owners have tabled a proposal that would reseed the playoffs and allow wildcard teams to host a playoff game. Many didn’t support the motion because they feel division winners should be rewarded. "I do believe if you win a division, it's good for your fans to know you will have a home game," said Patriots owner Robert Kraft, reports ESPN.

The owners also passed several proposals at the meeting, including recommendations that force-outs be eliminated, winners of the coin-toss be allowed to defer, instant replay be used to review certain field goals, direct snaps from center that go backwards be treated as fumbles rather than false starts and the 5-yard facemask penalty be eliminated.
