(Newser) – Among this week's seasonal crimes: one involving pumpkins, and another involving Election 2016 (or so she thought).

  • Cops in Maine Arrest a Talking Tree: If Florida has its own special sauce of crime, then Maine might, too. Police in Portland arrested a man dressed as a tree on Monday. More specifically, cops say Asher Woodworth, 30, covered himself in evergreen branches, walked into an intersection, and proceeded to block traffic. Responding officers escorted him to the sidewalk, gave him a warning, then arrested him when he walked right back into the intersection. Here's what police say he was trying to do.
  • Cops: Woman Hits Police Car While Taking 'Topless Selfie': A Texas A&M student was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly crashed into a police car while taking a "topless selfie" for her boyfriend. Her troubles only increased when police looked in the car.
  • NC Judge Tried to Bribe Deputy With Bud Light: When Wayne County Judge Arnold O. Jones II suspected his wife was having an affair, instead of snooping through her phone himself, Jones thought it would be a good idea to ask a friend in the sheriff's office if copies of text messages between his wife and another man could be obtained through police channels—which is illegal without a warrant and suspicion of criminal activity. In exchange for the warrantless surveillance, Jones offered his "friend" two cases of Bud Light. Things did not end well for Jones.

  • Cops: Peanut Butter Bandit Hit 'Trump Rally': Disorderly conduct charges are pending against a woman who authorities say smeared peanut butter on 30 vehicles outside a gathering in Amherst, in central Wisconsin. Investigators say the Monday night conservation group meeting in Amherst had nothing to do with politics, and that Christina Ferguson, 32, was drunk when she entered the meeting and began yelling about how she hates Trump. Here's what she allegedly drew with the peanut butter.
  • 'A New Low for Crime': 200 Pumpkins Stolen: Almost 200 pumpkins were stolen from a New Jersey farm stand in the wee hours of Tuesday, a crime that required the culprits to make three trips to fill up their van with pumpkins. All three trips were caught on surveillance video that's been released by the family-run Farms View Roadstand in Wayne. While pumpkins may sound like a strange target for theft, they're worth a pretty penny.
