The trailer for Disney's live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast was released Monday, aka, the exact moment in time a significant portion of the American populace was looking for a distraction from political news—and in its first day online, it was viewed more times than any other movie trailer in its first 24 hours, per Disney. It was viewed 127.6 million times, or "more views than there are people in Mexico," as Vanity Fair points out, beating previous records set by Fifty Shades Darker and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (VF also points out the view count includes re-watches and autoplays.) Can't get enough childhood regression? Gizmodo has a side-by-side shot comparison of the new trailer and the trailer for the original animated flick, and they're almost identical.
