The strange saga of Christian Slater's dad continues: Thomas Knight Slater sued both his ex-wife, Mary Jo Slater, and son Christian back in February. The portion of the suit against Christian Slater has since been dismissed, but the complaint against Mary Jo Slater is still pending, and Thomas Slater has allegedly been writing "hateful," "disgusting" letters to the judge in the case. On Tuesday, that judge ordered Thomas Slater, 77, to stop writing letters immediately, MyNewsLA reports. "You’re having communications without everyone being involved," she said, and besides, the letters are "not appropriate." When she summoned Slater to Tuesday's hearing, she said the "vile, disgusting, and contemptuous" letters served "no purpose but to threaten the court." He allegedly sent more than a dozen of them; one said she and his son's lawyers were "colluding Democrat devil worshippers."
Thomas Slater wants $30 million in the defamation suit, but the judge sent his lawsuit to a limited jurisdiction court, meaning the most he could possibly collect is $25,000. He claims his ex made statements resulting in him being "blacklisted in the show business community" and ruined his career in Hollywood, where he had previously appeared in soap operas and a few films. (He claimed the same thing of son Christian, but the judge determined Christian Slater's comments, in which he told an interviewer his father suffered from manic-depressive schizophrenia, were protected free speech.) During Tuesday's hearing, Thomas Slater started to raise his voice, resulting in the judge warning him, "I have a sheriff’s deputy in the courtroom and if you don’t watch it, you will not be pleased with the result."
