A "Sandy Hook truther" has been arrested, accused of threatening a parent of one of the children killed in the Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting in 2012. Lucy Richards, 57, is one of the people who believes the shooting, which resulted in the deaths of 20 children and six school staffers, was actually a hoax. She is accused of issuing death threats including the statement, "you gonna die, death is coming to you real soon." USA Today says the parent has been identified in a statement as Len Pozner; other media outlets have not yet named the parent involved.
Pozner's 6-year-old son, Noah, was killed at Sandy Hook, and the family has already been victimized by other so-called truthers. Per USA Today, Pozner issued a statement following Richards' arrest that reads, in part, "We are comforted to know that the system is working to protect the victims of violent crime from re-victimization by potentially violent Hoaxers." Richards, of Tampa, Fla., allegedly made the death threats via text message in January, WFTV reports. She was charged with four counts of transmitting threats and faces up to 20 years in prison.
