Chelsea Clinton was 12 years old when she moved to the White House and she wishes people would just leave Barron Trump alone. "Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid," she tweeted Sunday, two days after the 10-year-old Trump son—who will be the first boy to live in the White House since John F. Kennedy Jr.—appeared at his father's inauguration. The tweet followed widely criticized tweets about Barron from Modern Family star Julie Bowen and from Saturday Night Live writer; the latter joked about the boy becoming in a "homeschool shooter" in a tweet that now appears to have been deleted, along with the rest of her Twitter account, reports the Telegraph.

But while Clinton wants people to go easy on Barron, she's not going to soften her stance on Trump: "Standing up for every kid also means opposing @POTUS policies that hurt kids," she tweeted. People reports that Ivanka Trump told ABC last week that Chelsea Clinton was a "very good friend" of hers long before the bitter election fight between her father and Clinton's mom, though they haven't spoken for a while. "She’s been a friend of mine long before the campaign, of course will be a friend of mine after," Ivanka Trump said. “I haven't spoken about the specific challenges about this next chapter with her just yet but I intend to." (Long before Barron was born, the name was Trump's favorite alias.)
