The flu is marching across the US, with 40 states now reporting widespread activity. In addition, the CDC says 15 pediatric deaths have been reported across the US, seven of them in the past week, reports CNN. Hardest hit are New Jersey, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, New York, and South Carolina. "We are hitting the peak right now," says Dr. David Topham of the University of Rochester, and that means it's time for the medical community to make its annual appeal to flu-vaccine holdouts. "It's not too late," says Dr. James Steinberg of Emory Healthcare. "It wasn't an early season (and) there's still time." See the CDC's website for a map of flu activity and more. (More flu stories.)
