I'm a 'Deplorable' Trump Voter, and I'm Not Sorry

Feel free to 'rage,' but Jeff Bust doesn't have luxury of waiting for someone he likes

Jeff Bust doesn't like Donald Trump. He thinks the president is "arrogant, careless with what he says, overly competitive, and insensitive." But Bust also voted for Trump and proudly considers himself "deplorable," he writes for the Chicago Tribune. He focuses on the amount of money the US has expended over the years and how that debt will now end up in future generations' laps—and he wants the country to pay down that debt and "balance the budgets" before holding "empty values-centered debates" on what "cause du jour" to pay for next. "I don't carry signs, chant, dress up in clever costumes, vandalize, or wear pink hats," he saying, noting that he's too busy working to take part in any protests.

Bust is also fed up with being "guilted" for his employment, placing "practical" priority on climate change, and welcoming only immigrants who pay their fair share. "Trump … was the alternative to letting a collection of free spenders, organizers, race-baiters, intellectuals, tree huggers and professional value arbitrators continue to spend our grandchildren's money," he says about his November vote, adding that a president he actually likes isn't a luxury we can now afford. "We need one now who does something," he says, telling those who think he's irrelevant that they can continue to "rage, riot, demonstrate, burn, dress up, march, protest, pout, sing, make speeches, resist, vandalize, and denounce me," because he's more pleased with his vote as each day goes by. Read his entire piece at the Tribune. (Are protests against Trump even ethical?)
