The president of Nigeria and his former vice president are locked in a jihad of words, after the latter allegedly consulted Islamic holy men about when the former would die, and assured other ministers the date was not far off. President Olesugun Obasanjo decried the treasonous consultation, but added that he is "not afraid of such stupidity."

The VP fired back, denying the charges and accusing his former boss of involvement in "occultism and diabolical acts." He noted that Obasanjo had never officially "denied his association with deadly secret societies" and claimed the president had tried to "eliminate me politically and physically." The pair initially fell out over Obasanjo's efforts to alter the constitution to secure a third term. (More Nigeria stories.)
