Gossiper Trades Fat for Fortune

Posted Apr 9, 08 10:22 AM CDT in Business Technology Gossip

(Newser) – The Starbucks barista who turned his Perez Hilton alter ego into a web and TV sensation is bulking up his multimedia ventures by adding a radio show and slimming down his waistline, reports the Hollywood Reporter. "I want to frickin' jog shirtless in Malibu by the Fourth of July," the self-proclaimed "Gay Latino Oprah" said in a recent blog post.

The pudgy PerezHilton.com blogger, Mario Lavandeira, who has toned down his over-the-top attitude to attract mainstream media suitors, will host a national mini-radio show during rush hour, the Wall Street Journal reports. Also expected later this year are a book and film by Hilton, who is supposedly in talks with Warner Bros. to get his own music label.
